Radioactive sealed sources are used for controlling a wide range of industrial processes, typically measuring fill-level, flow rate or density of a particular material or product. Sources of much lower activity are used as calibration standards in research or simply for checking the performance of a radiation monitor. Industrial X-ray devices span a great range of applications including process measurement, materials analysis, inspection and security scanning.  Increasingly, X-rays are employed for fill-level and foreign body detection in the food and drinks industries.

Regardless of the application it remains good practice for the employer to appoint a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) to assist in managing the radiation hazard and supervise any work with the sources or X-ray unit in accordance with the Local Rules. RPS – Sealed Sources & X-Rays 2020

Designed for those using radioactive sealed sources or X-rays in industrial processes or research, this course focuses on external radiation exposures, practical protection measures and the RPS duties.
