Radiation Awareness Training

All employees who are engaged in work with sources of ionising radiation must be given appropriate training for them to understand;

  • the risks to health caused by exposure to the radiation,
  • general radiation protection principles,
  • the specific precautions required for their work, and
  • the importance of complying fully with the regulations.

For those who only need to learn the key requirements for ensuring radiation protection and the regulatory controls which apply, we have partnered with a provider of on-line Radiation Awareness training which offers the following topics.

On registration you have 6 months to complete the training at your leisure, and a training certificate is emailed to you upon completion.  So chose your subject and click on the link to enrol ..

X-ray inspection systems

Radiation hazard awareness training for industrial X-ray inspection system users

Industrial X-ray inspection systems generate and use x-ray radiation.

Radiation can be harmful to health so it is important that those using industrial X-ray inspection systems have a basic understanding of the radiation hazard associated with this equipment and the control measures that are in place for their safety.

Handheld XRF

Radiation hazard awareness training for handheld X-ray fluorescence equipment users

Participants will obtain a basic radiation hazard awareness associated with the use of X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) equipment and what control measures should be followed in order to keep their personal radiation doses to levels that are as low as reasonably practicable.

This course is suitable for all XRF equipment that electrically generate X-rays.

GC-ECD sources

Radiation hazard awareness training for GC-ECD users

Gas chromatography (GC) equipment can contain electron capture detectors (ECDs). These ECDs contain radioactive sources.

Radioactive materials can be harmful to health so it is important that those using GC-ECD equipment have a basic understanding of the radiation hazard associated with this equipment and the control measures that are in place for their safety.

X-ray diffraction (XRD)

Radiation hazard awareness training for X-ray diffraction (XRD) equipment users

X-ray diffraction (XRD) equipment generates and uses x-ray radiation for analytical purposes.

Radiation can be harmful to health so it is important that those using XRD equipment have a basic understanding of the radiation hazard associated with this equipment and the control measures that are in place for their safety.

Veterinary X-ray (small animal)

Radiation hazard awareness training for veterinary X-ray equipment users (small animal)

This course aims to provide a suitable level of general radiation protection awareness for veterinary practice X-ray equipment users who perform small animal radiography and small animal dental radiography. This course is also suitable for those performing this type of work and require refresher training.

Veterinary X-ray (small animal)
Veterinary X-ray (large animal)

Radiation hazard awareness training for veterinary X-ray equipment users (large animal)

This course aims to provide a suitable level of general radiation protection awareness for veterinary practice X-ray equipment users who perform radiography of horses and other large animals. This course is also suitable for those performing this type of work and require refresher training.

Chiropractic X-ray

Radiation hazard awareness training for chiropractic practices (X-rays)

Many chiropractic practices use X-ray radiation to examine patients and subsequently plan their treatment.

X-rays can be harmful to health. Many people working in chiropractic practices (such as receptionists, cleaners, landlords, general maintenance workers, etc) are not directly working with the X-ray radiation however their actions, or inaction, could unintentionally lead to either themselves or others becoming exposed to X-ray radiation.
