Refresher Course

RPS Radiation Safety Training - sealed sources

A one-day Refresher Course designed for RPSs and radiation workers using radioactive sealed sources or X-rays in industrial process controls or research.

Particular emphasis is given to:

  • The nature of the hazard
  • Benchmarks of dose
  • The principles of radiation protection
  • Site-specific safety procedures
  • Radiation Risk assessment
  • Updates to the relevant radiation safety legislation
  • Legislative controls including the new security regime, and
  • The necessary contingencies for accidents which may result in serious levels of radiation or contamination.

Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) should receive refresher training every 3 to 5 years, depending on the nature and complexity of the radiation work.

  • Refresher courses are held at your premises on request.
  • Course duration approximately 6.5 hours.
