RPS Training Courses

Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS)

Regulation 17 of the Ionising Radiations regulations (IRR99) requires radiation employers to appoint one or more suitable Radiation Protection Supervisors to 'assist in ensuring regulatory compliance'.

As an HSE recognised RPA Body, Radman Associates host a range of residential and on-site radiation safety courses including RPS, RPS Refresher and Radiation Awareness for Operators.

RPS Training Courses in 2007

Radman's RPA Tutors explain the role of the RPS, including all required duties, current legislation and how to prepare for compliance inspections. We aim to provide a practical understanding of radiation protection principles.

Held throughout the year, Radman's popular two-day residential RPS courses are now easy to book online.

Special attention is given to your risk assessments and site-specific local rules.

Statutory requirements for RPS training

The employer has a specific duty to provide appropriate training for all employees working with ionising radiation (see reg 14).

For the RPS, the purpose of such training is to ensure they know enough about radiation protection and the requirements of the Regulations, to enable them to supervise the work safely, ensuring all potential exposures are restricted.

For HSE guidance on the role of the RPS and training requirements please refer to:

HSE Information Sheet Number 6 (Radiation Protection Supervisors)
